E-9, E-10 and H-2 workers convert to E-7-4 on points. You need 200, and income and Korean each have to clear 50 on their own — a high total does not rescue a low one. Fill this in and you will see where you stand, and which of the remaining points are closest to your own hands.

These come before the score, and the score does not substitute for them. If any one is unmet you are not in the target group — a high total changes nothing. Answer these first.

Time in Korea

You need one of these two, not both.

4 years or more in Korea on E-9, E-10 or H-2 within the last 10 years And you are registered and working legally at your current employer right now. The four years can be added up across those three statuses.

3 years or more living outside Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon This is the exception route, and it only works together with a recommendation from that metropolitan or provincial government — tick that one under Extra points as well, or this does not count.

The E-7-4 contract you will sign

Two separate conditions, and both are about the contract going forward — not about what you have already earned.

My employer will contract me for 2 years or more once I convert to E-7-4 The contract has to run 2 years or more of continuous work at your current workplace.

Annual salary in the new E-7-4 contract

만원 (units of 10,000 KRW)

At least 2,600만원. For agriculture, livestock, fishing and coastal shipping, at least 2,500만원.

This is not the average income you entered for points. That one is a record of the past two years and earns points on a sliding scale. This one is a pass-or-fail condition on your next contract. The thresholds are different numbers.

The third requirement — a recommendation from an employer you have worked at for a year or more — is asked under Extra points below, because it is both a requirement and a scored item.

The sum of your last two years divided by 2. If those two years cannot be documented — a gap for re-entry, for example — the two highest annual figures between 2021 and 2025 may be used instead.

I work in agriculture, livestock, fishing or coastal shipping For these sectors the floor drops from 2,500만원 to 2,400만원. The bands above the floor are unchanged.

Three routes are recognised. Only the highest single result counts — they do not add together. Enter everything you have and the highest one will be used.

The published table starts at 19. Age has no minimum of its own — only income and Korean do.

Extra points

These add together, with one exception: a central ministry recommendation and a metropolitan or provincial one do not stack, and only the higher of the two counts.

Recommendation from a metropolitan or provincial government (광역지자체) +50 The 17 metropolitan and provincial governments only; district and county offices recommend through them. After converting you have to keep your registered address in that same region for at least 2 years. Recommendation from a central government ministry (중앙부처) +30 Employment and Labor, Trade Industry and Energy, Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries, Land Infrastructure and Transport, or SMEs and Startups. Recommendation from your employer (고용기업 추천) +30 You must have been at that employer for at least 1 year. This is a basic requirement as well as points. 3 years or more at your current employer +20 Continuous, as at your application date. Time at a previous employer can be added if you left through no fault of your own — closure, unpaid wages, abuse — and can document it. 3 years or more worked in a population-decline area or a 읍/면 district +20 Within the last 10 years, on E-9, E-10 or H-2, and the two kinds of area can be added together. It is worth 20 once, not 20 each. A Korean trade certificate, or a Korean degree +20 기사, 산업기사 or 기능사 in the field you currently work in; or an associate's degree or above from a Korean institution. Open university, self-study and credit-bank degrees count. A Korean driver's licence +10 Issued by the Korean police, class 2 ordinary (2종 보통) or above.

Deductions

Only events within 10 years of your application date count. Deductions are capped at 50 in total.

Fines of less than ₩1,000,000

5 / 10 / 20 points off, capped at 20.

Times a residence permit was restricted over unpaid tax

5 / 10 / 15 points off, capped at 15.

Administrative penalties under the Immigration Act

Fines included. 5 / 10 / 15 points off, capped at 15. Four or more violations is an exclusion, not a deduction.

Exclusions

Any one of these blocks the application whatever your score is. Items 1, 3 and 4 count only within the last 10 years.

Your employer has to qualify too

These are conditions on the workplace, not on you. We do not ask them here: most are not things a worker can answer, and a guess either way would be worse than nothing. Ask your employer.

The workplace currently employs at least one E-9, E-10 or H-2 worker If you are on one of those statuses there yourself, this is already true.
The workplace is within its quota for foreign hires Within 30% of the number of Korean employees, or 50% in population-decline areas, root industries and agriculture and fisheries. Construction is calculated from the contractor capacity rating instead.
The workplace has no unpaid national or local tax A workplace with unpaid tax is excluded. This is separate from your own tax record.
